Jim Hoehn: Music

He's Away From His Desk

(Jim Hoehn)

Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh
Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh
Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh
Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh

I'm checkin' my checkbook, 'cause it's never balanced,
but then again neither am I
A lifelong resistance to corporate existence,
there's always someway to get by
The money I spent, well sometimes was the rent,
which explains some places I've stayed
But the lines that I've toed and the rows that I've hoed,
were the choices that I alone made

    (chorus)
Ah, the price of success, is too steep I guess
Hold all my calls, just tell 'em all, he's away from his desk
The response I detest, is the robot-like yes
From corporate phonies who lack the cojones
To step away from their desk
    Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh,
    Bohp-boh-doh-doh
    Bohp-boh-doh-doh, Bohp-boh-doh-doh,
    Bohp-boh-doh-doh

Some people say that they don't like to work,
when it's really their job they can't stand
When you like what you do and you do what you like,
it's a feeling you can't understand
Whether playing beach bars or filling up cars,
it depends on your point of view
'Cause the full-service man with the pump in his hand
is working an island job, too.

    - - - , His gas pump's been blessed,
     it likes self-service best
He can't be reached, he's retired to the beach
    He's away from his desk, Bohp-boh-doh-doh, ....

The weather man says there'll be rain in the morning,
but he's wrong more often than not
But I'm hedging my bets, my alarm clock is set,
if it's sunny, I'm off like a shot
'Cause it always seems that fairways and greens
are reason to take the day off
If the boss wants to know, tell him I had to go
to a meeting called afternoon golf

    - - - , And may I suggest, use your 3-iron less
    It's a good round so far, I'm 1-over par.
Cause I'm away
from my desk, Bohp-boh-doh-doh, ....
